Welcome to the new TMU Rush
I have made some changes to the original design of the website that I hope you all will enjoy. It was a learning journey, but I'm pleased with the outcome—the essence of why this website came to life.
Take a look at the changes here
About Rush
TMU Rush is a straightforward course planning website for Toronto Metropolitan University students to view reviews of courses written by their peers. You can find everything from course requisites to detailed course descriptions.
I was motivated to create this website because of the challenges my friends and I face regularly to determine if a course is worth taking. Or sometimes just to find bird courses.
By compiling the experiences of other students, this platform will enable fellow students to discover and enroll in courses that interest them.
My History
Majority of my past projects have been back-end focused as I've always had a keen interest in the logic side of software development and enjoyed the CLI aspects of building software and working with web automation. I've rarely ventured into web developement as I've felt I lack creativity in design.
When it came to enrolling in courses or doing course intentions, a common struggle that was found between my friends and me, is finding information on courses and seeing how other students feel about it. We would have to rely on browsing the school's forum pages or communicating with other students to get their experience on it. The issue with this is, not everyone uses the forums and browsing the forums for info on the course is tedious, or you personally don't know anyone that has taken the course.
All of my projects have one common factor, a product to combat complex problems or to help drive business' success. As you can tell, the purpose of this website is to allow students to help other students to find information on courses through student-based reviews.
The Future of TMU Rush
To be quite honest I am not sure how long I will continue to develop this site, as I have satisfied myself with learning web development. As long as it functions and provies some benefit to students in some way, then I will be happy. This website revolved around going out of my comfort zone and making my first website, and providing a new platform to benefit students at TMU.
I plan to retire this project once I can confirm that it is stable. Please keep in mind this website is not perfect, it was not designed to impress, it was simply to help build my knowledge on web development beyond my back-end work. If I cannot get enough traffic to the site, then I will consider shutting it down. But I hope that does not happen as I want to help TMU students as much as possible.
Thank you for taking time to read and browse this website. I truly hope that TMU Rush was of use to you.
Sincerely,
TMU Rush
