A course in the principles of enzymology, bioenergetics and carbohydrate metabolism. Enzymology topics include the structure, function and regulation of enzymes and Michaelis-Menten kinetics. The fundamentals of bioenergetics and intermediary metabolism are discussed in the context of the integration and control of catabolism and anabolism. The course concludes with a detailed examination of carbohydrate chemistry with emphasis on the chemical logic and the regulation of these pathways.
