ENG 413
Literature, Empire, and Colonization
Students study the ways in which Empire, in both its historical and ongoing manifestations, uses literary and cultural texts to shape relationships between colonized and formerly colonized peoples and Western powers. Students also explore how literary and cultural texts have been used to engage in anti-imperialist, postcolonial, and decolonizing strategies that resist and subvert colonizing practices.
