Families and Health
This open elective course is a critical examination of recent important changes in Canadian family life and considers the implications of these changes for food and nutrition professionals. Theories for understanding the family are examined in order to provide the student with insight into the social, political and economic aspects of family structure and functioning. Students will also gain an understanding of the social determinants of health, and the pathways by which social forces and conditions affect individual, family and community life.
