Food Prices and Food Security
The course examines food prices, markets, recent food prices crises and food security. Global as well as local issues in food production, processing, distribution, and consumption are explored. Topics include an examination of supply and demand; food budgets; food price and food policy analysis; agricultural subsidies; food safety; international trade; biofuels; and speculation. Students will develop an understanding of the overall effect of income, policies, markets and prices in determining food consumption.
