Century of Revolution: Europe 1789-1914
The French Revolution launched the modern age, in politics, society, the family, the arts, and war. The 19th century brought fresh revolutions: technology and industrialization transformed work and leisure, life and death; liberalism and revolutionary socialism challenged the old order; and science altered forever humanity's place in the universe. Yet this was also a century of ruthless imperialism and aggressive and intolerant nationalism. This period is essential for understanding our world.

This course was beyond disappointing. Throughout all of high school, I adored History and specifically revolutions, which is why I believed this course would be right up my alley! Sadly I was mistaken. The lectures were a drag, and even the professor seemed disinterested in the content. The marking felt entirely random and quiz questions seemed purposelessly confusing. If you can avoid this course, please do. Save yourself from lots of frustrating conversations with the professor over weird grading/confusing feedback. All of this for a stupid elective credit.
