HST 526
Women and Gender in U.S. History
When we place women's experiences at the center of analysis, our understanding of American history is enriched, deepened and oftentimes challenged. Paying particular attention to differences among women, this course considers how women have been excluded from the promises of the "American Dream," how they nonetheless participated in and shaped American society and politics, and how they mobilized for equal rights and power. The course also introduces students to key concepts in gender history.
