JRN 415
Queer Media
This course explores how sexuality, sexual orientation and gender identity are portrayed in the media, news and entertainment, both historically as in the contemporary. The reasons and the implications for changes in the depiction of the 2sLGBTQ+ community are also explored. Do the media have the power to change public perception or are the changes in news and entertainment merely reflections of changing cultural and public attitudes? Do these ever conflict, and if so, why?
