POG 336
Decolonial Political Thought
This course addresses theoretical responses to European imperialism and colonialism. Readings are drawn from anti-colonial, postcolonial, and de-colonial political theory: the efforts of colonized peoples, especially in Asia, Africa, and the Americas, to conceptualize and oppose such domination. We will ask how imperialism and colonialism
shaped political theory and contemporary ideas about race, gender, capitalism, liberalism, and "the West" and consider the political theory of colonized peoples as a form of resistance. (Theory)
