Race and Ethnicity in Canadian Society
This course provides an introduction to the concepts, theories and research methods most relevant to the study of racism and ethnicity in everyday life. The development of multicultural societies and the historical context of racial and ethnic groups in Canada are examined. The role and impact of governmental and non-governmental policies (on immigration, employment and employment equity for example), will be discussed in the context of a variety of social institutions such as schools and the judicial system..
