SSH 105
Critical Thinking
Rational discourse has long been viewed as a principal force for social change. In this course, we will examine the structures and principles that undergird all forms of rational discourse, and we will learn how to assess the logical strength and persuasiveness of particular discourses. These skills will be applied to arguments found in everyday life, and to the formulation of one's own positions. (Formerly ACS 105)

Most confusing course ever. Got an A but literally felt like I understood everything but nothing at the same time. TA’s were great and lots of opportunity for bonus marks. I think it’s useful but definitely not enjoyable.

Hardest course I’ve ever taken, if you’re taking this in the faculty of arts all I can say is that it is more of a test to see if you can reason. Other than it it’s the least applicable/useful course you will take as a first year. SSH205, I found to be way more useful. If you have to take it GO TO THE TUTORIALS it is the only way you’ll pass. Least enjoyable experience of my life

Such a confusing course. Be prepared to fail the rest of your courses because this course will take up all your time and will to even be in uni.

This was the hardest course in my freshmen year. My TA was very unhelpful. The lectures were confusing at best, and impossible at worst. I'm currently in SSH-301 and I can safely say I learned more on the first day of that class than I did an entire semester in SSH-105.
Suggestion: Get the credit, and get out. It's not worth the overwhelming stress and anxiety.
