SWP 933
Indigenous Health and Well Being
Taking a global perspective, Indigenous health and wellness will be explored through the decolonizing theoretical framework of the Anishinaabe Medicine Wheel - a balance of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. The health status of Indigenous Peoples globally, the Indigenous Peoples of North America, and more specifically First Nations, Metis and Inuit of Turtle Island north of the colonial border will be discussed through social and political determinants of health lenses. The course will also focus on promising health promotion practices and programs.
